Chairperson Oli: Utilize science and technology for national development

Kathmandu: Chairperson of CPN(UML) KP Sharma Oli has said science and technology must be utilized for the development of the country.

Addressing an interaction on 'Current Status and Challenges of Science and Technology' organized by the party at its headquarters, Chyasal, Lalitpur on Monday, Chairman Oli argued that the country would not see development if science and technology were ignored. He however said Nepal has realized the need for science.

Perception may vary whether science is to achieve or to be utilized, he said, adding that science tells the rules and facts that nature has. According to him, there was a pause on knowledge gain in the country, which is no more now.

'We have difficulties, but there is a lot to do,' he admitted. Oli further viewed research and study were ignored, thereby belittling development activities.

Chairperson Oli also asserted that Nepalis have a knack for garnering knowledge on anything new quickly. On a different note, he wondered why goats were being imported while arguing that Nepal was self-reliant on meat production.
