Death of one, 29 ill after consuming meal at reception

Kathmandu: One person has died after consuming a meal at a reception.

29 others fell ill after consuming of meal at the reception, which took place in  Sundarbazaar Municipality-8, Lamjung.

The deceased has been identified as Devi Pariyar (32 years old) of Bensisahar Municipality-4. She showed symptoms of headache, fever, and vomiting before her death at HDCS Model Community Hospital today morning.

According to Inspector Megha Nath Chapagain,District Police Office, Pariyar and other ill guests had a meal at the house of  Chhetra Bahadur Gurung on the occasion of Christmas on Friday evening.  As Deceased Pariyar was living in Sundarbazaar Municipality-8.

The Hospital Administration said that all ill guests, including the deceased's spouse Debu, and their 12-year-old daughter, are undergoing treatment.

Police said that a total of 40 people were invited to the gathering. The guests were served rice, pulse, chicken meat, and radish pickles in the reception. The investigation is going on in the case.
