Exhibition on 'Nepali Rocket: Dream for Space Flight' begins

Kathmandu: An exhibition entitled, "Nepali Rocket: Dream for Space Flight", kicked off today at Dillibazar-based CBM School of Science.

A prototype of the rocket, a collaborative innovation undertaken under the 'Shree' project by the Astral Space Research Nepal (ASRN) and the CBM School of Science, has been showcased in the exhibition which also aims to raise funds for the Project.

The exhibition will run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day till May 28. The organizers have urged all the interested to visit the exhibition and encourage the innovation of Nepali scientists.

According to ASRN Chairperson Shisir GC, the rocket has been selected for the Spaceport America Cup 2023 to be held in Southern New Mexico on June 19-24. A 15-member team comprising dedicated youth space scientists will represent Nepal in the event.

Twenty-four countries from six continents have been selected for the Cup and the squad is the sole team to be qualified for participation in the event. 'We have proved our competency to be part of the Spaceport Cup and the achievement is of Nepal and the entire Nepali,' GC said.

He also shared that over nine million rupees have been already spent on the Project and they face economic issues to undertake the journey ahead. Spaceport America Cup 2023 is the world's largest intercollegiate rocket engineering conference and competition where a total of 158 teams: 80 nationals and 78 international will be participating.

Principal of CBM College of Science, Suman Neupane, said the exhibition is expected to support the Project. 'We hope to get connected with the probable helping hands through the exhibition so that we could make our journey to the Spaceport less challenging,' he said.
